Cestello Church

The church of San Frediano in Cestello, facing the Cestello Square, built in A.D. 1450 on the remains of the older convent of "Santa Maria degli Angeli".
Its present appearance belongs to the period of the "Cistercian" monks, which was when the decoration of the dome was completed by Antonio Maria Ferri.
The church derives its name from the above- mentioned monks, also called "Frati del Cestello" - "Cestello Friars"; its style is neoclassic, with a nave and two aisles, arranged in the design of a latin cross.
"Orsanmichele", the church of "San Michele in Orto" is situated in the animated "Via de' Calzaiuoli" (road of the shoe-makers), halfway between the "Duomo" and "Palazzo Vecchio".
